Places to visit in London #1

I have been in London a couple times and I must confess that it is impossible to get bored in that beautiful city. The architecture, the culture, the food, the diversification of people, the famous red bus, the black taxis, among other factors. In other words, it is a capital full of life and with so many things to see. I will show you a couple of places I have visited and that you should visit as well!

Big Ben: If it is your first time visiting London then you must see the iconic Big Ben! You may not know but at the 60th anniversary of the accession of Queen Elizabeth II (also known as The Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II) in 2012, the tower was officially renamed as Elizabeth Tower. Before this celebration it used to be known as the Clock Tower. Big Ben is the nickname used to refer to the Bell of the clock. However, people use the nickname to refer to the tower, bell and clock collectively.

London Eye: The London Eye is also known as Millennium Wheel. The Ferris Wheel is located on the South Bank of the River Thames. It has over 3.7 million visitors annually and it is considered the Europe’s tallest Ferris Wheel. Each capsule has capacity to carry 25 people.

Westminster Abbey: The Westminster Abbey is a Gothic abbey church located in the City of Westminster. It is near to Big Ben. Moreover, it is the traditional place of coronation. Although, you have to pay a charge to enter the church, you can always take pictures outside and appreciate the architecture of the building.

Buckingham Palace: The Buckingham Palace is in the City of Westminster. It was opened in 1703. It is the official London residence of the United Kingdom’s sovereigns since 1837. Furthermore, it is the administrative headquarters of the reigning monarch. Of course you will also have to pay if you want to see the inside of the palace but just like I said before you can take pictures outside.

Tower Bridge: The Tower Bridge is a suspension bridge in London. It is very popular for its two towers. The bridge was built between 1886 and 1894 and opened in 1894.

St Paul’s Cathedral: The St Paul’s Cathedral is an Anglican cathedral. It is one of the largest churches in the world. Not only the wedding of Prince Charles and Princess Diana was held there and but also funeral services for several famous people.

Millennium Bridge: The Millennium Bridge is a pedestrian bridge that links Bankside with the City of London.

Have you ever visited London and any of these places listed above?

I hope you have a lovely day and week! (:
