5 helpful language-learning platforms

Nowadays, there is a lot of material available to learn a language. Therefore, this week I decided to write about some cool platforms that I have used/want to use:

Memrise
Memrise is a language app founded in 2010. In this app you can learn 25 languages such as Japanese, Spanish, Portuguese, Korean, Turkish, and so on. The app is divided into courses. This means that in each course there is a wide range of levels. For example, in Korean 1 there are 17 levels. Each level will teach you a new topic such as colours, numbers, foods. Even if you don’t complete course 1 you can move onto course 2. The app uses images, audio and other features in order to help you memorise new words and you can always review what you have learned so far. However, some features like pro chats, difficult words mode, listening skills mode, video mode, speed review and others are paid.

TalkToMeInKorean
If you are interested in learning Korean then TalkToMeInKorean is, in my opinion, the best thing ever. The website is divided into levels and each level has several lessons. The website provides you with a PDF document for each lesson and then after you read you can always hear the podcast to practise the pronunciation. TalkToMeInKorean also has a youtube channel and they sell books which I heard are really good.

Duolingo
Duolingo is another language-learning platform which provides 23 languages to choose from such as Spanish, English, Portuguese, Polish, amongst others. You can practise your reading, speaking, writing and listening. It’s also a good way to improve your vocabulary and grammar. If you want to start using Duolingo but you want to skip the basics because you are at an advanced level, the app allows you can take a placement test. That’s what I did when I was studying English a few years ago.

HelloTalk
This app allows you to talk with native-speakers from other countries. They can translate and correct you if you make a mistake. Not only you get to learn more about languages and cultures but you can also make new friends along the way.

Fun Easy Learn
Fun Easy Learn focuses on vocabulary. I use this app a lot to expand my vocabulary. There are more than 6,000 words of vocabulary with images, audio recordings and native translation. It’s a simple app to use and the vocabulary is organised in topic and sub-topics. I normally write down all the new words I learned in my notebook so that I can go through them later.

In conclusion, learning a language can be a fun process. It’s all up to you. I hope some of these platforms are helpful.
