Southampton is the largest port city in the county of Hampshire and it’s located on the south coast of England. I have visited this beautiful city three times and I really love it. It’s not as chaotic as London but still interesting and worth a visit.
Westquay: Westquay is a large shopping centre that has many shops including top brand names such as Apple, Zara, John Lewis, among others. The first time I visited this shopping centre I was surprised at how big it was. On the Westquay website, you can find some useful information about the opening times, car parking + daily tariff, directions to get to the shopping centre, centre map and facilities.
The Marlands Shopping Centre: The Marlands was the first largest Shopping Centre in Southampton back in the 90’s. It’s smaller than Westquay but if you visit Southampton and you are near the area I think you should visit it. On the website, you can also check the services they provide and other useful information.
Southampton City Art Gallery: Southampton City Art Gallery is highly-recommendable for those who love art. According to the gallery’s official website, the Gallery has a collection of over 5,000 works which is mainly from the British 20th century and contemporary art. However, some works are also from the Renaissance. Therefore, you have the opportunity to see with your own eyes the progression of the art until the present. I have also heard that the gallery frequently updates their exhibition. The best of all is that this Gallery is free to all exhibitions.
Palmerston Park: If you want a calm place to relax, this park is the right place! The garden is filled with beautiful plants so if you want to see them, it is recommendable that you visit it in the spring. Furthermore, the Viscount Palmerston Memorial is also in this park.
Southampton Cenotaph: Southampton Cenotaph is a stone memorial dedicated to the victims of the First World War. During that dark time, Southampton Docks were the number one military embarkation port. The names of the victims from the Borough of Southampton are engraved on the stone. However, due to the bad quality of the stone, the weather was eroding the stone and, therefore, the names were inscribed on a glass wall near the Cenotaph. Here is the list of all the names, in case, you are insterested.

Titanic Engineers' Memorial: Titanic Engineer’s Memorial is a memorial dedicated to the engineering staff that died on the Titanic. The Titanic pulled away from White Star Dock in Southampton in the direction to New York City. Unfortunately, more than 500 residents from Southampton died in this disaster. The monument features a bronze statue of Nike, the Greek Goddess of Victory, and the representation of engineer officers of the ship who passed away on the tragedy. Thanks to worldwide donations, it was possible to build this memorial.
Have you ever visited Southampton? If not, are you interested in visiting this city someday?
I hope you have a lovely day! (:
