unTouchable

I finished reading unTouchable a month ago and I loved it. Therefore, I decided to write a review it and share it with all of you.

unTouchable was created by Massstar, a south-korean webtoon artist. This comic started on March 30, 2015 and ended on April 3, 2017. It’s a fantasy-romance comic with a total of 138 chapters plus a prologue, epilogue and an extra chapter which is the final one. Also, this comic is translated by fans to other languages such as: Italian, Greek, Polish, Portuguese, French, Korean, Taiwanese Mandarin among others.

Plot:
Sia Lee is a modern vampire that feeds by absorbing human energy. She leaves her parents to pursue a model career. On this new adventure, she meets Jiho Shion who suffers from mysophobia, an obsessive fear of germs. While she helps him recover from this phobia in order to feed on him, she falls in love with him. Meanwhile, Baryu, Sia’s childhood friend is in love with her and a new mysterious and powerful vampire, plans on destroying humans.

The love relationship between Sia and Jiho is tested many times. In the end, can they stay together and overcome all the difficulties on their way?

My opinion:
In terms of the story, I loved it. It was developed in a homogenous yet unpredictable way. I liked the concept of the modern vampire. It’s fresh and breaks the tradition of vampires needing blood to survive. Furthermore, the storyline is interesting from the very first chapter until the end. You will always want to know “what will happen on the next chapter?”. There’s no rush in ending the comic and I think that helps you to get to know and see the evolution of each character and essentially to fully understand the story.

In terms of the artwork, it’s stunning and bright and all the characters are beautifully drawn.

As you may know, I love background music on comics. However, this one doesn’t have. Nonetheless, this will not, of course, degrade the quality of this comic.

About the characters, the female main character, Sia Lee, is beautiful, outgoing, sympathetic but also selfish. The reason why I consider her to be egotistical is because she decided to aid Jiho to overcome his phobia. It’s not because she actually wants to help him but because she wants to satisfy her own necessities -  absorb his energy. Thus, she is just using him. Fortunately, she falls in love with him and tries to protect him from all the dangerous vampires that may hurt.

Jiho Shion is handsome, innocent and shy. I found it funny when he first met Sia and he thought she was a stalker. Sia’s brother, Ragi Lee, is also handsome and he cares a lot about her sister. Now talking about some annoying characters, we have: Moran Lee aka Moron and Baryu aka noodle head. I did not have anything against Moran because in the beginning she even helped Sia to aid a germophobia person since she is a psychiatrist.  However, when she noticed that Sia was in love with Jihon she became sooooooo irritating. She did the possible and impossible to end their relationship and that was making me so mad. Nonetheless, there was a reason for the way she was acting. Sia is a powerful vampire who can kill anyone if she takes to much energy from them. This situation happened before to Sia’s childhood bestfriend. Hence Moran was scared that Sia could unintentionally kill Jiho and then she would blame herself forever, leading to Moran losing Sia as well.

I liked Baryu at the start of the story. He was cute, lively and friendly. Nevertheless, he started to become obsessed with Sia because he loved her since childhood and was afraid that Jiho would steal her from him. This is the moment where he controls everything Sia does and even forces her to love him back. Baryu should be grateful for having Sihwa, a human who knows about vampires and that cares about him.

Finally, there’s another character I wanted to talk about: the black-haired vampire whose name I forgot. I honestly don’t remember if his name was revealed in the story. Anyway, he is a very cold person seeking for revenge after a human killed his mum when he was a child. He knows that Sia is also a powerful vampire so he wanted to partner with her in order to kill all humans. However, things don’t go the way he wanted. He almost killed Jiho. However, Sia sacrificed herself and was able to revive him.

I loved the ending. After 3 year of being unconscious, Sia wakes up and marries Jiho. Noodle hair gets back to his senses and the black-haired vampire falls in love with an employee. Karma is real guys!
In conclusion, I just have to say that everything in this comic was incredible and the title perfectly describes the whole story. Untouchable: firstly, Sia can’t touch Jiho because of his phobia then Jiho can’t touch Sia because she could kill him.

I highly recommend you to read this comic. If you are interested in reading this comic, click here:
